    5-Speed Getrag 240

    Is this a good 5-speed to do on a 72 2002?

What are the details, or specs on a 240 Getrag?

What modifications need to be made?

    Thanks

Some people will tell you not to buy a kit, which in my opinion is the easiest and most hassle free way, but I didn't have any problems buying one from Aardvarc Racing in CA. Their arguement is that the driveshaft will be too long or short. When I installed mine if fit perfectly. There are a few companies that make a complete kit, I only dealt with Aardvarc and can say that the service was top notch.

    Ditto-

The factory built their 5-speeds from 'kits', right?

Personally I favor the 2002Haus kit but that is mainly because I know Rob Torres and trust him in whatever he puts out.
Either way - There's a bunch of info out there. Time to be a sponge and soak it all up.
FYI - After having my car 22 years now, a 5-speed is the next 'big' thing I plan on doing.

    Good luck=

I haven't purchased anything from 2002huas but I've only heard good things about them and Rob T. I go to Dave at Aardvarc for the same reason, I've been dealing with him for a few years and trust him when he tells me something.

i think the main concern in whether to use a kit or not is if the car has ever been in an accident or anything to that effect. which model is the 240? is that the close ratio 5 speed out of the e21?

i have a 3.91 lsd...i need a 5 speed! 3.91 ratio and the 5th gear seem like a match made in heaven for the 02.

    regards, jeff
