To wrap or not to wrap? This is the question.

Should I wrap my new headders?
    Seems to make sence.
    Any tips to the process?

Get them coated, Jet Hot or the like.

Coating is best. But it obviously costs 2-3x as much and may require header removal.

Some say wrapping will cause rapid fatigue/failure because the metal stays moist all the time. There are also header "sleaves" and "blankets" available that are much easier to install and allow for air to circulate around the headers so they don't stay moist, etc. I am contemplating these, as the headers do get damn hot and heat-up the bay quite a bit.

    Check out thermo-tec's site.

Coating is the best way to handle them.

Andrew, I'd leave em the way they are...I've talked to a couple of engine builders about this topic and none of them seem to buy into the wrapping it up is better theory...unless yer in Amsterdam in the red light district , then I'd say the wrapping it up is better theory is right on

Swain Tech is the best in the industry. I've used them on 3 different occasions and will use them in the future. Their header coating is not pretty, but it's the most effective in the industry by far. It's also paintable. I've used it on a NA header and on a turbo manifold, turbine housing, and J-pipe. In fact, my turbo car with the Swain coatings had lower under-hood temps than the same car did NA with a header with the usual Jet Hot type of coating. Not just lower temps, but noticeably lower.

I've also used Swain's internal coatings as well as their Black Body Emitting coating on my FMIC. Can you say sleeper?

Dan Swain is a racer from way back. I remember watching him race a short-track modified (like NASCAR Featherweight) 25 years ago. They are good folks and their turn-around is better than any I've heard of in the industry.

I had several parts of my turbo kit sent to Jethot for coating. They did a great job and they were much cheaper then I thought.

click the link below for pics of their sterling finish on my parts:
