The widest that will fit is the Hoosier 245/40R17 or so,e have run 255/40R17 in other brand R compounds like the Kumho or Michelin.

    Need advice.

Have a 1996 328is with Sport Package (not sure what this added, if anything to the suspension). But have not changed it.

Looking to put some SSR's on to it.
    17x8 with 225-45-17 on Front
    17x9 with 245-40-17 on Rear

Will this work? What does the staggered setup do to the handling?
Anyone know? This thread has not addressed the handling question for those not in the know. Thanks.

Those tires and wheels will be fine on the car. If I can help let me know.

    Question

Hi, I have a question for Jim, or for someone knowledgable on offsets and their applications. I have recently acquired a set of 2001 Z3 16" rims, that have an offset of 46. This seems to be a significantly larger number than what it seems most people are running here. My questions are:
    1. How will this offset work on my 93 e36 4 door. I am running HR sports and bilsteins.
    2. How do I know if a rim will be hubcentric? I fit the rim onto my wheel hub with no tire on it, and it seemed to fit nicely. Is that all there is to it?
    3. I think I want to buy an Avon tire for these rims, what is the lowest profile I can run that will not affect my speedometer ( or will have a nearly negligible effect).

    95 M3
    Hello,

I have a few questions about tire sizes. My car is a completely stock 1995 M3. The wheels are 17x8.5 et40.

    1) Would 245/40/17 Fuzion ZRi's rub up front without spacers?
    2) Would 235/40/17 Fuzion ZRi's rub up front without spacers?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

jetblack1, The 46mm offset will work fine on a 3 Series but the Z3 wheel does not have enough load capacity for the car. It would be hub centric on all of the 3 Series cars.
For the tires you would want to run a 225/50R16 and they would work fine.
If I can help let me know.

Hey Jim. I was wondering what size tires I can fit on some
18x8/front & 18x10rear Rondell #58 wheels? I got a e36 M3. I expect the rears to stick out which I dont really care if they do but what size tires could I go with on these wheels?

    +whats "rolling your fenders"?

    Thanks Jim!

I don't know what the offset is on those wheels. I would say 225/40R18 front and 255/35R18 rear would be the best set up.

I just found out that the off-set is 13. You still say that those tires would be best?

And if you dont mind me asking why 40 in the front and 35 in the rear?

If the wheels are a 13mm offset they will not fit your car. The offset is way to low and they will stick out of your wheel well. The 225/40R18 and the 255/35R18 are the same height front to rear. The second number is an aspect ratio of the first number.

I have a question. I have a 2004 325i with sport package. 17x8 styling 119 with 225/45R-17 contisportcontacts. I have a friend looking to get rid of a set of 245/40 ZR17 (rear) and a set of 225/45 ZR17 (front). I am currently stock, but plan on getting a nicer suspension in the future. Would these, mainly the rears, fit on my current setup? What about when it is slightly lowered?

    Thanks for the time,
    Matt

    Fitment question:

Would these wheels fit my 97' M3?
    (click for a bigger pic)

I'm hoping to buy these from a seller and use them as winter wheels. I didn't really get any specs from the seller as far as offsets.
These are his stock 16" 7 spoke rim's/tire's from his 2001 bmw 325i.

I've heard of some 16" wheels fitting "barely" on E36 M3's.... so i'm just hoping this one would.

Hey Jim! Over here Jim!!! Oooh oooh!

Im running 225/40-18 S03's f/r on my 98 M3 with Eibach prokit. I also have 18x8.5 ADR Msports which I believe have a 35ET offset. I really dont like the tires so Im looking to swap them out but I also want a wider tire. I was thinking 235/40-18 front but what would fit best in the rear without major fender modification? 245/40? 255/35? 265/35?

    TIA

    205/55-16 or 225/50-16 on my 1994 325is

Please help, I've got a good deal on a set of 16x7, 5 spoke OEM BMW wheels, with Conti 205/55 R16. BMW recomends 225/50 R16 to replace my factory 205/60 R15 tires on 15" wheels. Will this fit my '94 325is? or I have to get the 225/50 R16? Thanks.

I have a 2000 540i with sport package and i am planning on putting 18" m parallel wheels on. I cant decide if i want to just get the 18x8 all around or get the staggered 18x8 and 18x9. would the staggered change the characteristics of the car any different then the same all around?

I also live in seattle area where it rains a lot and am looking for the best tire for the price for all weather. i plan on doing some mods on the car so i would like them to be more on the performance side. also what would be the best size tire to get if i where to get staggered.

any help would be great, thanks!

    18's for a 92 325i

Need advice Jim, im getting 18's soon for my '92 325i. I have a choice of getting 18x8 or 18x9, both are +38 offset. i was thinking the 18x9 so i can get that deep lip look. need to know what is a better package

    1. 18x8 with 215/40/18 tires all around
    2. 18x8 with 225/40/18 tires or
    3. 18x9 with 225/40/18.

i plan on lowering the car with either tien springs or eibach pro kit springs. im sure theres someone with a similar setup, just wanna know about rubbing issues with fender and when i bust u-turns if i go with the 225/40. And will my offset be okay? thanks alot jim...

    2000 540i 6 spd
This is my very first post with bimmerforum as I just bought a 2000 540i 6 spd yesterday it came with a staggered set up at 235/45/17 front and 255/40/17 rear.

I found a set of m5 reproduction rims, they are 19 x 8.5 front and 19 x 9.5 rear. The offsets for them are +15mm front and +22mm rear. I don't plan on lowering my car so I was hoping that I could find the biggest tire size to minimize the fendor gap. According to my tire size calculation with a 255/40/19 front and 275/35/19 rear I'm able to reduce 0.85 inch front wheel gap and 0.77 inch rear wheel gap. But of course this would also increase my front and rear ride height respectively which I'm ok with.

Now my question is would this set up rub like there's no tomorrow? I'm a little concerned with the front tire set up rubbing on the inside against this piece that sticks out from the bottom of the spring.( it's a round piece that goes around the shocks right beneath the spring and it sits just barely 2 fingers above the inside front tires.)

Will a 18x8.5" wheel fit on a 255/35/18 tire on the rear of my M3? Is the wheel wide enough?

    Advice Request

I have an e39 540i with sport package.

I am considering going to go 18x9 all four corners. Would it be possible to fit rear 18x9 style 42's that are OEM on a newer model on the front? If so, would hardware be required?

For tire size I was considering 265/35/18. I have read other posts from 540 owners that say they run this tire size at all wheels without any issues.

Any suggestions for a decent wheel for such a setup if the OEM rear fitment won't go?

I will be upgrading the suspension via coilovers at a later date.

    Thanks,

    Dib

We have quite a few wheels in the 18X9 that will fit all the way around. The 265/35R18 should be fine on all four corners. If I can help let me know.
