My bad on that one. You would need to have the wheel drilled out to fit the E39 ceneter hub. The offset and size of the wheel and tire is fine.
    Sorry.

    Hello,

I am looking to get the following wheels:

    18x8.5 with 225/40/18 up front
    18x9.5 with 255/35/18 rear

They both have a +35 offset.

Will they work with stock suspension and no fender rolling? What would the correct offset be if +35 is not correct?

    Thanks.

Two questions if I may. I've read through a lot of this thread, and have searched fairly extensively, so:

    1. I have a 92 325i. Currently it has 15" wheels on it. I'd like to change to Style 32 or 41 in a 16" wheel. Do either of those wheels come in the proper size/offset to fit without using spacers?

    2. REALLY basic: What does offset measure?

    3. REALLY basic also: What difference will there be from a 15" wheel to a 16" or 17" Cosmetic? Better handling? How much of a difference? Does it change MPG? Etc.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello Avics,

I would say the 35mm offset is going to be aggresive especially on the rear. You may need to run more negative camber and or roll the fender lips.

This should answer your question on offsets. Your car will accept 16" and 17" wheels no problem. I do think the cosmetics are improved and the handling is also improved depending on which tires you choose. The specific wheel you choose will determine if the mpg is lower depending on the weight of the wheel. I have no way to determine how much that would be though.
If I can help let me know.

It depends on the size and the offset but they should work if they are 17".

If I want to order some 205/40's for some 9" wide wheels, will Tire Rack sell them to me, or tell me to get lost?

Are you looking for 205/40R17 for 17X9 wheels? If so I will sell them but I would say they won't fit correctly on the wheel. They also may not have enough load capactiy for the car they are going on.
Let me know if I can help. I just don't want to know what car they are going on.

BBS RK 17x8, ET35...with 225-45-17 rubber. Will this fit my 318ti? Planning on lowering with Bilstein sports/H&R sports.

**Jim...I emailed you a few days ago with questions about tire choices, just making sure you're aware, as I figure you can provide some good answers!

What year is the car? Are you asking if the wheels will fit or what size tires to go with? Let me know and I can check on it.

Hello! I would like to know if 2004 XI sport rim and tires would fit on a 1997 328I w/ sport suspension? The xi rims and tires are 205- 50-17 and the 328I size is 225-50-16, would this work or are the lug patterns and brake set up different? Thank you for any help, I would like to purchase these newer rims for my aging 328I rims.

You should be fine with those wheels. You can also go up to a 225/45R17 tire on those wheels. If I can help let me know.

    Hi Jim,
It's a 2004. I'd like to know if the rims will fit and what size tire I need? Then what tire? I'd like a quiet, summer only tire that was more comfortable than sporty.

    fitment question

I tried to search the tire fitment thread and I couldn't find out an answer to my question. I have a 1998 e36 (328is) and have a chance to buy a set of 18x8.5" wheels. I currently have the stock 16" wheels (sorry, I don't know what they're called) and run Bridgestone Potenza G009 225/50/R16. I looked on the Tire Rack website and it shows the wheels I'm interested in, and recommends a 225/40/18 size tire. Would I have to do any modifications to my fenders (aka fender roll) to get the wheels to fit?

It seems to me that reducing the sidewall by 22.5mm (.885") buys a minor amount of clearance when switching to the 18" rims.

My awesome GF recently surprised me with 20's for my 2007 525xi. Unfortunately, she doesnt know much about RIMS and I dont either. All we know is what the salesperson told us. "It will FIT"

A friend of mine said that i may need hub centric RIMS. Does anyone know what that means??

I am running a 255/35/r18 Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season in the rear. Wheel is ET42. It's rubbing really bad in the rear against the car, any idea of how big of a spacer I need to get it to stop rubbing. If need be I can roll the fenders more to push the wheel out some more.

The tires are just too wide. The widest I would recommend would be the 245/35R18 and even those may need some fender lip roll. The spacer I think would make the rubbing even worse on the fenders.

Hmmm. Seems like a lot of people were able to cram them in. It is rubbing on the inside, on the body. There is some room between the fender and wheel I could push it out some. Was just wondering if there was a common setup for running 255s. They are on a 18x9 42et. Wasn't sure if people ran a smaller offset to make em fit or not.
