I am looking to buy a new set of track wheels for my 1995 M3, Kosei Racing K1 in 17x8.5 and was wondering if I can fit a 255/40 Toyo RA-1 on that rim and not have rubbing issues. It is a dedicated track car and I run about -2.8deg camber front and -2.4deg camber rear. Some fender rolling is not a problem to do if necessary or a spacer.
255/40 possible? or should i go with the 235/40 Toyo RA-1 instead?

I think you can make it work. You would not be the first person to run the 255/40R17 all the way around on the E36.
If I can help let me know.
Hi I am glad I found this thread! I have asked a few local tire shops and gotten a different answer from each. This is my setup right now:
Wheels: 17x8 Racing Dynamics
Suspension: Koni Shocks with Eibach Springs
Car: 1995 M3
Now the other day I had a flat, no big deal except the thing is I don't want to buy a new tire to replace the flat one. I've been looking around for used tires and have picked up a couple tires that shops have just given me for free and they have about 50% tread on them!
Currently on my car I have 225/45/zr17 Bridgestone Potenza S-02's. So I was thinking of running two of those on the back, and on the front run the two tires I picked up for free which were:
2 Dunlop SP Sport FM 901's 215/25/r17
Would this work out ok?
To sum it up, on a 17x8 rim:
Front: Dunlop SP Sport FM 901 215/45/r17
Back: Bridgestone Potenza S-02 225/45/zr17
Thanks!
heres the setup im planning on running
wheels:16x7.5 borbet type e +35mm offset 10mm spacers
suspension:http://www.bmpdesign.com/product-exe...category_id/53
car:1986 325e
what is the widest tire size i can run without rolling the fenders or having rubbing problems. id like to have a 215/50/16
Jotti, I would not recommend the set up you are taliking about. You would have a shorter tire on the front and a lower performance tire on the front as well. Handling would not be the greatest.

Just picked these up. Will these fit on the e30 m3?
BBS RX's
2 - 17x8 et38 w/ 215/40-17 Yokohama AV1-40i
2 - 17x9 et32 w/ 235/40-17 Yokohama AVS
They came w/ 2 10mm spacers and bolts
Thanks,
Ian
I would say you would need spacers front and rear with this set up. You also may have to roll the fender lips and run a little more negative camber.
Hi, I just received a set of type 42, 16x7s, et46. Currently I am running Milles, I believe et38. What problems, if any, will I run into. Car has eibach Pro Kit, Koni SAs, about to install Korman camber bolts. Many Thanks!
I just picked up a e34 (94 540i). What's the widest tires I can get on a 18" wheel?
Tirerack website is recommending:
Front 235/40-18
Rear 265/35-18
Does that sound right?
Those are the widest that will fit and not rub. You can go to the 245/40R18 and 275/35R18 if you roll the fender lips and run more negative camber.
If I can help let me know.

Can I fit a 19x10 in the rear w/19 offset?
What would be proper tire size, 265/30/19?

I would say with that width and offset you are going to have to roll the fender lip to make it work. The tire size would be 275/30R19 for the rear.
If I can help let me know.
I have a 2000 528 Sportwagon with the OEM 17"BBS wheels.
I am looking at a set of 18x9 ASA AR1's with P Zero Nero M+S in 245/40-18 front, as recommended on TR's site, but I wanted to go with 275/35-18 at the rear (currently out of stock). Right now, I'm just haven't decided if I'm going to wait for the 275's or go with 265/35-18 at the rear, which are a bit smaller in diameter. I have 2 questions
1- is a 275/35 too much for the 9" wide wheels?
2- how can I find out the depth of the lip on the AR1's for this application? (I dont' want to give up the "deep dish" look of the OEM wheels )
I would stay with the 235/40R18 and 265/35R18. The 275 on the rear does require a fender lip roll.
IfI can help let me know.
Why 235? Your site suggests 245/40-18 with those wheels.Originally Posted by Jim@tirerack

Thank you.
If you want to stagger them I would do the 235/40R18 and the 265/35R18. These are the same height front and rear. If you run the same size all the way around the 245/40R18 works fine. You can also run the 245/40R18 with the 275/35R18 but you will need to roll the fender lips.
ok i want 235/40/17 for my m contours. and i want to buy some Fuzions. i hear they run narrower. should i buy 245/40/17???
Can I fit a 275/30/19 on a 9" wide rim?

What's the widest I can go in the front with 18x8 ET33 on a 97 328is? What about in the rear on the same 18x8 ET33?

I have a '97 528 with H&R springs and Bilstein shocks and struts. I'm thinking of getting some 18x8 wheels all around and was wondering what size tires would work best for my car. I'm considering going with staggered tires but I'm not sure what sizes to go with without loosing any handling. Or should I just go with the same tire all around? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hello...I have a qustion on wheel and tire size. I have a 1993 325i sedan riding at stock height. I would like to get an 18" wheel. On tirerack.com i was looking at the mille miglia ev-R. This size only comes in 18x8 and 18x9R. I am wondering what all will be involved in getting the 18x8 all aroudn on my car...what tire size, and will anything rub. And which offset? I was suggested a 215/35/18...but that seems a little thin. Also, how much is involved to getting those 9" wide wheels on the back of my e36? Thanks a lot...and if there is a lot of work on 18"s, if i get a 17" with a low profile the same tire diam. as the stock 15"s? Thanks!
Hey Jim,
I'm doing my homework before purchasing wheels and tires for my iX, it's nice to "know" someone inside Tirerack, thanks for doing this. I bought tires for the wife's car from you guys and it worked out great.
My iX is slightly lowered, which really only makes it a tad lower than an E30 iS. I have 15" snow tires, so I'm looking for 16" wheels/tires that will be for good weather only. I hope to do some Autox and driving schools with it.
I love the E36 M-Contour wheel, and have looked around for a replica that would fit but have had no luck. My next favorite is the BBS cross-spoke style. You guys show 3 styles that will fit:
BBS RC $323 et35 16.4 lbs
BBS RX $247 et35 20.8lbs
ASA AR1 $159 et38 17.6lbs
I don't know how much my stock wheel weighs (it's the 15x7 4x100 et41 BBS cross-spoke) and how much of a difference lighter wheels will make. I know unsprung weight is important, but how much so?
Also, my stock offset is 41 but it might be cool to push them out a tad as long as that won't affect my geometry too much or cause rubbing. The et35 will push the wheel edge out 6mm from stock, right? Can I go more without having problems? The iX has a fender flare that the iS doesn't have, so they have some room before they would actually protrude from the side of the car.
The recommended tire size is 205/60 with the 16" wheels, but could I go with a 225? The RC is 7.5" and the others are 7", what's the advantage of the extra wheel width?
I know this is a ton of questions, I appreciate your taking the time to assist me and I'll definitely call you when I pull the trigger on this.
Rob
Alright, I'm thinking of gettting some 17x8s. What would be the recommended tire size? I'm thinking of tracking it every one in a while. I also don't want too harsh of a ride, am thinking of getting aftermarket suspension, but am currently stock.
Thanks
