lyghtfunky1, Those tires would be way too tall for the car even if it is not lowered. You would need something like 205/50R17 or 225/45R17 to fit correctly.
I can tell you that I have seen 275/35R18 rub on the rear of a 5 Series with 17X9.5 wheels. A fender lip roll or more negative camber normally makes it work.
will these fit my car?

if i run 245/35 on 18" wheels on my E36 325i, will i need spacers anywhere?

Hey Jim-
I'm looking for winter tires for an '04 330i ZHP. The Tire Rack website says 205/55-16 will fit - I assume that means the 16" wheel is OK on this car?
On a related note, I have a set of 17x8 BBS RK's from my E36 - will these fit the ZHP?
Thanks for your help.
Would 17x8 225/45 for front and 17x9 245/40 for the rear fit on my stock 96 328i w/o rubbing? I currently have stock 15x7 205/60 on my car.

It would depend on the offset of the wheel and the alignment setting on your car. Normally this set up will work.
If I can help let me know.
The wheel offset is +40mm in the front and +45mm in the rear.
Front> 17x8 225/45 Rear> 17x9 145/40
The rest of my cars suspension is stock...here are the specs my mech set my car to.
Front Axle>> Left Right
Caster 3.2* 3.2*
Camber -.3* -.3*
Toe .15* .15*
Rear Axle>>
Camber -1.6* -1.6*
Toe .25* .25*
Thrust Angle 0.0*
If this setup fits w/o rubbing will there be any extra or abnormal wear to the suspension?
Thank you.

Looking at possibly purchasing some wheels. Dimensions are:
"staggered"
8.5"x20" front, 9.5"x20" rear.
Looking for some low profile tires. Suggestions? Thanks!
What type? All season, winter, summer only, super sticky, high mileage type, all show, etc?

Either all season or summer only. Still debating. I have a new set of tires on their now (proxies, 18") with the stock sport wheels, but I need to get MY look on the car
So show is your thing then? Check out the looks of the Falken 452.
www.FK452.com They are a top value tire. I had a set. Very good stick wet and dry, good looks and a very reasonable price.

How aggresive do you drive the car? What sizes are you planning on running on the car? Let me know and I can make a better recommendation.
Well I'm not Jeff Gordon, but I drive it semi-hard, aggressive I'm planning on purchasing some 20" wheels ("staggered" 8.5"x20" front, 9.5"x20" rear)
You tell me Jim. I'm here to collect as much advice as I can! Would you suggest me going down to a size 18?
Two good places for price are....
www.edgeracing.com and www.vulcantire.com
Forget Discount Tire. They are high.

Jim@tirerack,
I drive a 2002 330i
I have 2 questions for you....
One...
My tire blew up today, and turns out I have a bent rim.
IF am wanting to replace both my rear tires, what is that widest rim I can do on my stock wheels without having to roll fenders. My car has the sports package so I have the factory 17" ///M wheels on my car. The factory setup is 225/45/17 for the front and 245/40/17 for the rear.
2nd question.
Because the wheel is bent, I might just replace all my rims with some CSL 18*8.5" wheels. Again same question, if I decide to go with that setup, what's the widest I can go with both for the front and the rear?
My guess would be on either setup = 235/45/ 17 or 18 and 255/40/ 17 or 18...
But then again... that's just my guess.

im sure this has been asnwered here. But i dont have time to go through 27 pages of mostly questions.
I have a 95 325is coupe. i think my fenders have been slightly rolled in teh past. im running DSI's for now. non staggered.
For my next set up id like either 17" or 18" with 8.5 wide upfront and 9.5 out back, or 8.5 all around. what offset would i need to clear everything.
How does offsetting work, the bigger the number the more inward the wheel goes? so for example if 38mm sticks out past fender, than like 40somethign will be more tucked in?
