Jim,
Thank you for the reply to my previous question, my suspension setup still consists of Koni shocks, and an eiback pro-kit...the rims I am not looking at getting are 17 x 7.5" ET 20 and the tires would be 235/45/17...would running that setup create any rubbing issues?
Rival23, A 20mm offset wheel is not going to fit a 3 Series without sticking out of the wheel well. The wheels and tires would fit a 5 Series.
Jim,
Just bought an '01 740iL, came with 235/50 ZR18 (F), 255/40 ZR18(R). Tires have experienced most of their usable service life (I live in RI, so I'm probably pushing it). I've read about the particulars of having the staggered look, and don't feel my needs fall in that area at this time. Would the best bet be to go with 235/50 R18's all-around, or would another size be better?
For right now I'm looking at all-season (moving back to VA in a month, and still have to deal with the occassional crappy weather). For a funny anecdote for all, just got done driving to and from Burlington, VT with the above listed summer tires...an adventure to say the least
I would say either go with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S or the Kumho ASX. Both of these tires are high performance all season tires that will give the traction you are going to need in the snow.
If I can help let me know.

also...could I run an 18 x 8 rim with a 35mm ofset with 235/50/18s without having to modify the fenders or the camber?
Thanks

Jim, perhaps you missed my questions on page 12:
Currently my father has a 540i with 225/55 16" snowtires, the recommended size by tirerack (and purchased from tirerack.) The lease is up soon and he is buying a e60 530xi wagon and he's wondering if these wheels will fit on it. Tirerack's website recommends 17 inch wheels, but I don't think 16's would be too small for the 530, its brakes can't be bigger than a 540s. Would the offset be a problem? Thanks for any insight. If they will not fit, are spacers an option?, do you offer them? Thanks

No car, live in NYC.
Will Mille Miglia 16" wheels fit on a 2001 330i? This would be for winter and the wheels are available used/cheap, but I don't know if they will fit over the bigger caliper of the 330. Thanks.
ganseg, I am not sure which wheel you are talking about. It really depnds on the offset and brake clearance. I beleive we did have a Spider wheel a few years back that did work.
Jim, can I email you a picture? What is your email address? Thanks!
Got your email. Thanks!
Hey Big Jim,
Could you pop your head in this thread when you get a chance? I am rolling the fenders and wanted to know what you thought about this:

New first time BMW owner here,
We just got a '98 528i and we are interested in getting new wheels and tires. We do not have any knowledge in this area. Currently we have the stocked wheels 225/60/15 on it but were recommended to go to 235/40/18... would these fit??? Should we go staggered...what is the diff. besides the look??? Do we have to modify to car at all??? My wife will do most of the driving so she mainly needs a quiet and smooth ride, she will not drive it hard. We have been shopping diff. websites like tirerack, and others but we can not afford much and started to look at ebay. Is this a bad idea, are these replicas ok??? We heard replicas can crack easily and the ride may be sacrificed... is this true??? are the wheel and tire packages any good??? They're cheap but we don't want to get to cheap. Are ebay tire sellers difficult to deal with??? is there anything to stay away from??? or anything to look for??? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
The New Guy
Sorry if I'm being redundant! I know the answer is on this thread, but I can't find it. I just purchased a 2003 330Ci convertable with the sport suspension package, it has the OEM 5 twin spoke wheels that have the M3 logo on, 17". Will the standard 2002 OEM M3 18" wheels fit my 330? Will I have to use spacers? Is the 330 Ci sport suspension package the same as an M3 suspension of the same year?

Hey guys.. just a quick note.. i have a 93 325is.. the widest tire i could get on without any mods was 235 or 240.. the rears can take a 245 or poss even wider (I have 245/45/17), but the fronts- you will have a rubbing issue (rubs on the bottom spring cup on the strut).. I tried the 245's on the front and they rub.. Maybe the 240's will fit..I have the BMW Motorsports 17's..
??? So 5 and 3 series are interchangeable ??Originally Posted by Jim@tirerack

The M3 wheels rear will not fit the regular 3 Series. They stick out of the wheel well. I misquoted Pang also. A 5 Series wheel will not fit a 3 Series. Sorry, I was just going through to many questions.
Would stock 19" E46m3 (2004) rims from fit on a 1998 e36m3 without rolling the fenders?
thanks
You would have to do more thatn roll the fender lip. You would have to have a widebody kit to make the rear fits. The wheels will stick out of the wheel well by themselves.
I've got a 97', 540, Sport w/18x9 wheels and 275/35-18s all around. SO3's tramline like crazy but my current set of PS2's do not tramline at all. Can anyone recommend a cheaper tire than the PS2s?
