I own a 2001 330I base sedan. 17x7.5" and I have 205/50/17 tires all around. I would like to go wider on my rear tires.
Can I get wider tires for the rears, say like 225/45 or even 245/40 in the rears on my stock wheels ? any rubbing or other negetive effects to be worried about ?
Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated...
anyone ?

check the tire's specs on the manufacturer's website - it'll tell you on how wide/narrow of a wheel it can go on.

Hey Jim,
I was looking at the Bremmer Kraft BR05 17x8 rims and there are fewer than two in availability, is it possible to order more? Thanks
I have some 17x9 et 43.5.
I plan to run a 15mm spacer making them et 28.5
These are for the front. Is this dooable? If so, what tire?
I have full coilovers/camber plates.
Thank you.
dist1nCt,
I have the bright silver in stock and the black is due in the second week of Feb. If I can help let me know.
busterhax,
I would think with a fender lip roll and negative camber a 5mm would work. I would think the 15mm is too big. If I can help let me know.
Hey guys,
I have a 2006 530i with Sport Package...
Just picked up some new rims and tires but Im worried about the fit
275/30R20 - Rear
245/35R20 - Front
+20mm Offset
Any Help?
I would be worried a little as well. The tires are about 3/4" taller than stock. You should have say a 245/30R20 and about a 295/25R20 for the best match. The offset is good so there is no issues there. If you don't have any issues with rubbing going up it will be OK. Your speedometer and odometer will be a little off.
anything to remedy this if it would be a problem.. Body Spacers? Hub Spacers? Roll the Fender?
My tires are within the 30 days should I return them and get the proper fitment?

There is nothing you can do to change the height of the tire other than changing the tires. If the speedo being off is not a big deal and they don't rub I would not even bother.
looks like the speedo is going to be the only issue, just had one of my techs test fit them.. they fit perfect with atleast an inch of room all the way around
thanks for your help
I'm a little stretched right now. Would this be the right place to get tire pressure info?
I'm currently running stock pressure, but some people say run the max psi or 5 above max psi. For example...44max psi +5 =49psi. That seems like way too much air in a tire. I'm not too worried about going off bead, since a lot of the Porshes are running a little stretched. I'll ask the shop but I'd like some BMW/e36 input.
My setup is...
215/45/17 with 17x9 front.
225/45/17 with 17x9.5 rear.
Thanks.
Updated size.

I should assume the tyre supplier know what works best so if you go over max on a cold tyre what damage can occour when it heats up and bumps things another 5 over your already boostd max?
will it cause excess wear on a centre strip or otherwise shorten tyre life ?
I tend to run where the card tells me but then I don't see the point in stretching either
$245.00 for a 17x8.5 wheels (APEC ARC-8, commonly tracked wheel) . Will they fit if I run about 235-245ish? I think stock offset for E36's are 41 and these are 40. I'm not too knowledgeable on wheels/tires/fitment so I need some assurance.
*The PO was running 16's on 205's on a stock suspension BTW.

Thanks for the reply. So these should fit fine with no rubbing at all?
You will probably need a slight roll in the rear.
All right, quick help me out
Whats the difference between these two

or

Cus one is wildly more expensive than the other

I am looking to put a set of 19"x8.5" wheels front and 19"x9.5" wheels rear on my 99 740iL. What size tire do you think I should get for proper fitment front and rear? I want to stay as low profile as I can for in tire size due to future suspension adjustment if possible. Car hasn't had any suspension adjustments at all.
Bump...

I am sorry but that is more than a little stretched. You are a full inch off of what the tire mfg's recommend. I would say the air pressure is based off the vehicle so you should run what BMW recommends for the car.
I seen many Porsche's run stretch at this shop...http://scargoracing.ypguides.net/. No sorry needed.
I'm currently running my cars psi specs. Thanks though.
Anyone else?
