PLEASE READ BEFORE POST: The ultimate wheel/tire fitment thread.

As everyone can tell, we have many threads asking the same fitment question. I think we can cut down the amount of this kind of reposts if we put together all those questions in the same thread. Then we will be able to search here for an answer before making a new thread.

Let's make this work for all of us, please post your fitment question here.

    Thanks for using this thread.

    18" x 8.5": Widest tires all around?

    I'm game.

So I'm thinking of buying some tires in next few days. How does 235/40/18 in front, 245/35/18 in back sound for a 95 m3? I'll probably go with the kumho MX's. I have stock springs and bilsteins.

Any rubbing issues? How will the slightly staggered setup affect handling?

I would say the best 18" stagger would be 225/40R18 front and 245/35R18 rear. For the 17X7 wheel I would go with a 225/45R17. The 235/45R17 is a little wide for the 7" wheel.
If I can help let me know.

Do you mean 'best' in terms of handling?

    Thanks,

The best for handling would be the same tire and wheel on all four corners. If you want to stagger the wheels and tires then I would do the 225/40R18 and 245/35R18. You can go with the 255/35R18 on the rear but the car will push more and may rub.

I agree with Jim. Go with 225/40 front and 245/35 rear or just 245/35 all around if you don't mind running spacers in the front.

Due to an upcoming trip, I need to get the tires before the weekend; and locally there are no MX's in those sizes..

So now I am thinking of just getting 235/40/18's all around. Pole position s03's.

    Wheel fitment

    Great idea about this thread.

I really want to put the ASA AR1 wheels on my '99 323i, but I'm worried about rubbing. I'm not sure about the size/bolt pattern/offset combo.

I tried to put on some 18" M5 replicas last month, not knowing that the offset would totally rub in the back.

Big wheels are great, but not if they're going to rub or if it means that I'm going to have to get super thin tires.

I've got stock suspension so, I'm not sure of the best set up. I'm thinkn' 17"s???

    Any thoughts?

Question, My E28 had 200/60/390's on it stock, how many revs per mile is that, and what is the over all diametr of that metric tire, so I can use the specs on tire racks website to pick another size.

I would like to know if 275/30/19 on ET43 19x8.5 wheels on the rears will fit without rubbing?
I have 265/30/19 now without any rubbing issues and I also have the fenders rolled.

    Bridgestone S0-3's - 225 / 40 / 18 No Issues

    The Brigdestones are noticably wider then the Michelins were but overall I'm impressed. I think a 245 / 35 / 18 would fit without rubbing but not a 245 / 40 / 18.

I bought the car, and it has 3 different tires on, (as in, 2 of them are the same, plus 2 other unique ones)

I'm going to buy 4 of all the same ones, and I was wondering if I could go 225?

Dunlop made an SP Sport 8000 in 225/50-15 they're a little shorter than stock and will lower your car a little. Not a bad tire for the money, but may be kinda hard to find. Should have no clearance issues.

If you are going to new rims, then 225/45-17s are actuallya little taller but work great on 7.5" wide rims. 235/40s are a little shorter. Lowering may cause the 225s to rub up front at full lock.

In either case if you upgrade wheels and tires you must keep your total weight of wheel plus tire as close to stock as possible or you will ruin the handling and cause very rapid wear of your suspension components. Plan B is rebuild the suspension to handle the additional stress. No free lunches, sorry.

Thanks for the great response, I was mainly wondering though, since I'm keeping the stock tires for now, how much wider tire I can go than it is now. It's stock at 205, will I have problems using the same rim for 225 or 235?

i think 225 is the max you would want on the stock wheels (7" right). so 225/50R15's would be best, just like panzrwagn said. There's also Yoko ES100's too in that size and many other tires. It will make your car seem a little faster because the tires are smaller in diameter

I think the stock 15" wheels are only good for 205mm tires (the 205 tires already sticked out from my 15" stockers).

A 37mm offset will not fit the E30. I do not show OZ having a wheel for the car.
    Sorry

    E30s are a pain(but I cant live without it)
