First thing you need to know is what ET your stock wheels are, then find out what the ET, (offset) the wheels are you want to use, then go to http://www.willtheyfit.com. I have 467 M3 rims on our E64 with spacers and I love them.

Ok the problem is the wheels fitted are not stock, they are 19s and rubbing on the arches hence the reason I want to change

I'm led to believe looking at a set of Z4 wheels they are 8J front and 8.5J rear ?

Start at realoem.com to see what the stock ET wheel size were then go from there.
Are there any shims on your setup now?

Well the wheels I want to buy are 8J et 34 and 8.5J et47, the stock rims should be et47 and et50 according to realoem.com so I'm not sure if they will fit or not or if I need spacers ? Any idea? Thanks in advance
