Do you guys think that M3 is the best car?
well, in my opnion, it is a nice one, but you can't judge a car by its speed.
by the way i am jsut curious and i am not the person who appears on the screen name...........
i think it is an all around nice car. you have power and 5 seats if need be. is it the best "car"? i think in its class yes
Doubleyoo tee eff, mate?
Yes i think the E46 M3 is the best car.

I second that m3 in there own way are the best at what they do..
What is with these threads recently by you(under m28'sname)? The M3 is the best car in its class in many people's opinion, but there are far more better cars for performance i.e Porsche and far better luxury cars i.e Mercedes Benz. Do not ever consider THIS BMW a luxury car (for you,aka rides "nice"), it was not ever intended to be.Originally Posted by m28
I am not sure why you have been so concerned with the speed of this car, if anything the blend of handling, style, quality and overall asthetics of the M3 are what people buy this car for.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by hundreds of engineers that get paid thousands of dollars for something you bought at Pep Boys because your buddy who doesn't have a job told you it was 'better'?!?
Did you guys see this month's Automoblie magazine? They voted the M3 as the car they would most like to drive home! Nuff said!

Lemme get this straight: You're asking members of a BMW website, M3 owners on a M3 only forum no less, if they think the very car adorns their driveway (you know, the one they worked their asses off to buy), is the "Best Car?"
I'm glad this is only a forum. You'd probably just kick them in the balls if face to face.
I can buy pretty much any car I want (I work really hard for my money) and I still have not found a better all around car than the M3 for all around go fast, haul stuff around in everyday driver. And the twisty road near my house never fails to bring a smile driving home after a long day. And if you through in the cost factor it is unbeatable in every respect.
I'll tell u in a couple months when i find a decent priced one
Bmw's in general are good cars, bmw m cars are great cars. Kinda obvious that people on this forum would say its the best car don't u think?

My wife told me just the other day that she doesn't like riding in my car and would never consider driving it. The engine is too loud, the exhaust is too loud, the suspension is too stiff, she gets a whiplash every time I shift, and the tranny is too complicated. I had one word for her...............
"PERFECT!!!"
2003 BMW M3, FOR SALE! P.M. me!
hahhah that is awesome.Originally Posted by jrlvwjet
As far as the M3 being the best car. Of course there are better cars out there but this one is my favorite. Well atleast in the price range. I would love a ferrari or something exotic but cant afford that.
The M3 is eh... ok. I really wanted a 1982 Toyota Cresida but I settled for the Bimmer.
Oh well.

I think everyone on this forum should take a stab at this question. Last week I test drove a 02 carrera and a 02 m3 back to back and in my opinion they are pretty much very similar except that the m3 has real back seats and a trunk that you could really use. No disrespect to porsche, but I gotta friend that has a carrera and sometimes jackazzez ask him the dreaded question.."So couldn't afford the turbo?" That just hurts. But with an m3 you're already at the top of the bmw food chain. So to answer your question the m3 is the best car from the e30 to now and will always be. There is only 1 substitute...the M3 The Ultimate Driving Machine!
There is a drool factor involved. Most people would really like to have a BMW; most BMW owners would like to have an M.
Of course, the M owners always find fault in their chosen car, which leads to mods... or another M.
If you look at my posts from just a few weeks ago, I was seriously considering a new Mustang Cobra when they become available. However, as much as I like drag racing, I just couldn't see myself going through with it, except maybe as a second car for Saturday night. As nice as that car is, its not an M3.
When I bought my 2002 M3, I was actually shopping for a 330ci to replace my 1998 M3. I was a hair's-breadth away from ordering the 330ci, when the salesman was looking through their allocation chart and he said, "Hmm. Look at that - there's an M3 that no one took. How did that happen?" He was referring to the 18 month wait that was going around in most of the country at that time (June 2002). For some reason no one had jumped on this car, and it was still Status 111, so I could option it out the way I wanted.
It took me a few seconds to get over the sticker shock, but I thought if I saw an M3 going down the street as I drove around in my 2002 330ci, I'd feel let down. The Ci is a fine car, but its not an M3. I put a $500 deposit on the car and went for it. Two months later, I drove home in the most beautiful car BMW has put out since the 8 Series.
In just two months, I'm going to do it again.
i think an M3 is one of the best cars out there. The absolute best no. For the best car ever is the 911 turbo.
2000 Ferrari 360
2004 Yamaha R1
2007 Porsche 911 C2S Cabrio
2017 VW Jetta (DD)
1995 M3 (SOLD HELP ME FIND IT TO REBUY)
1998 740IL (Sold)
2003 x5 4.6is (Sold)
That comes down to preferences again. You can throw the 911 Turbo out as the "best", but then someone will drop a Modena in the conversation. Realizing you left out the exotics, you may then say, "Ok... I choose the Konigsegg then." But someone else will take off the gloves and say, "Oh yeah? How about the McLaren F1. Thank You!"
Where do you draw the line? Answer: you draw it where you would pick YOUR best car. Me, I'd like to have a new Aston Martin, much more than any Porsche. I really like the new 997, but the Aston Martin has style like no other car.
Yes, I agree. Unfortunately, blame MTV Cribs, rappers, NBA & NFL stars for ruining and cheapening Aston Martin (and Bentley, among others...) as a brand, at least here in the US. What is ultimately a beautiful and elegant car has become the ghetto banger's pimp ride of choice and the preferred modern day instrument to parade one's newly acquired wealth and riches around-- and the inevitable bad taste that comes along with it (Dubs and Gucci interiors anyone?)Originally Posted by Chuck
So, Aston Martin has become the quintessential expression of money for the ghetto nouveau riche. No other car will do. Aside from the inevitable H2.
What an aberration. And how sad. Because, indeed, it is a beautiful car, whose lines nobody comes even close to.
I've wanted one for a long time. But even if I had the money to buy a Vanquish right now, I would never buy one.
I'd prefer a V8 from the 70's. There's a certain image I'd much rather not be associated with...
I understand where you're coming from. But a 70's AM? They look sort of like Ford Mavericks. If I was going to pick up a used AM, it would definitely have to be a DB5. My Dad had one when I was 6 or 7. He was restoring it, but sold it before he finished the project. It was a beast. Very classic look too.
speaking of class....the Man Himself:
