its just ghey.... XM > sirius.

Sirius has much much much better programming. I had XM for a year and I could never find music I liked. When Sirius released the Alpine adapter I switched. Now I have a hard time not finding music I like. The DJ's at sirius are better also.
i wish that Stern went to XM
because they are "serious"
man, that was bad...
yeah, i thought xm was pretty much "dead man walking" mode right now...

I thought XM had more subscribers than Sirus, but Sirus had been getting all the publicity from howard stern which make sirus seem bigger than it actually is.
Im dont have any numbers though.
because Howard Stern and Chris Bangle are secret gay lovers.

Because Sirius has Stern, NFL, NBA, NHL (fun!), NCAA March Madness, Madden, British League soccer, better DJ's playing better music, etc, etc, etc...
I have had both of them and like both of them. I only have XM right now b/c my hardware allows it. Perhaps Sirius does have better music programming BUT XM HAS NASSSSSSSSSCARRRRRRRR!

Money.
What other answer is there?
Either SIRIUS paid BMW or there is some marketing deal that (monitarily) made more sense to BMW than to go with XM.

WUTCONE?
serius offers more to it's customers. it's a better value.
Hey man, I'm a professional!

Try Soundgate.com or Blitzsafe.com for the adapters

C'mon people, do you really think BMW sat down and said, "Well, you know Sirius has better DJs and Howard Stern, I think all our customers would like Sirius better."
Sirius did with BMW what they did with Stern and every other big ticket item out there. They paid them off. Nothing illegal or unethical, just doing business.
BMW puts Sirius in every car, and gets a cut of the $12.95 monthly fee. Easy as can be, its just another nail in their coffin regardless of how good their service is. I just don't see how they're going to ever going to make money. Think about it, they are going to pay Stern 100 million dollars every year for five years, and though granted 100 million of that ONE HALF BILLION DOLLARS that is going to Stern is stock. There is no f'n way. Maybe they're just praying to make it over the hump, but damn!
IMHO of course....

XM is all right. kinda gets redundant after awhile. Ive had it in my supra for a year and its good for stuff like road trips. but most of the time when i want to hear what i want to hear, i dont end up bein satisfied. Oh well, i already paid for the next couple months, so i might as well use it...
As far as BMW is concerned, i agree with Prince. Sirius had an opportunity to associate themselves with a premium brand/ category of cars, and so they went for it, and got the contract. thought i would chime in my $.02.

Rumour has it...
I was told that Sirius & XM are owned by the same people and that the FTC would not permit just one service provider, so the people at XM in essence founded Siuius to compete as a seperate entity.
I don't know if this is true or not.

I've heard something like this as well. Not necesarily that XM produced Sirius but that some parent company (anonimous) spawned both satellite radio providers.Originally Posted by Bimmerhead
