I was looking through ebay, and there are kits for like $25.
Anyone know anything about these shifters?
no idea but I just got a budget SSK from understeer... I like it alot... I also did the WSR mod from understeer also... It was only $85 shipped... Uses OE parts.
I don't know how reliable those could possibly. Doesn't show any test comparisions or anything of that sort. I would probably go with the UUC shortshifter kit if I were you.
Talk to Rob Levinson about that product.
I got UUC EVO3 from one member here, but still have it waiting on my back seat. Looks nice though.
I think cheap ones are no name and worth exactly what you pay for.

Yep, just take it off and bolt line directly into the slave cylinder.

Holly fuck! And I thought that I had a bad clutch! I was confused because in first gear, if you accelerate hard, the clutch does not slip. But once I dump the car into second, at high revs, the clutch slips like a completely worn out one ... it takes like 2 seconds before it engages completely ...Originally Posted by Phat Ham
I just got the car two weeks ago, so I was thinking I might need a new clutch ...
Glad that you guys are around to teach and pass the knowledge!
Before I took my cdv out I couldn't make a smooth 1-2 shift to save my life.Originally Posted by kenan
Yep, have to agree. Mine now feels like a nice and fresh CivicOriginally Posted by Phat Ham

Just did the CDV delete by just taking out the CDV altogether this weekend... Results are amazing... I should have done this earlier....
Ok. Guess I will break down and do the CDV too. What the hell
This weekend's project ...
Change headlights
Install short shift
Delete the evil CDV
Install new brake disks and pads
It will be a fun weekend!

I'm not even sure if I did it right... BUT it feels great!
I had warm brake fluid running down my arm the whole time. Not only an ugly feeling but it's probably pretty bad for you too.Originally Posted by GriMpY

Not looking to spend a lot, but better shifting would be nice.
I'm looking at understeer's site, and I see the budget shift rod for $75 for a 528, but I don't see a WSR anywhere aside from the $325 UUC Evo3 kit. What WSR did you get from understeer? Is the budget shifter any shorter in height?

I got the budget SSK and did the WSR. The budget shifter is alot shorter than the stock.. With my UUC knob, it is about the same height now as the armrest.
Wow. That cheap WSR mod is sooooo ghetto.Originally Posted by GriMpY

I don't think the M3 shift rod works in the 528, otherwise I'd try it. Still, $75 is pretty decent for a budget SSK from understeer. You like yours, Grimpy, so I'll probably make an order sometime. Btw, which UUc knob did you get? The stock knob isn't bad, just curious though. Have a picture of it? EDIT: Wow, the knobs are as much as the shift rod EDIT #2: And the knobs weigh well over a pound!
