    Buying Question on M3's

I am going to be entering the market for a used M3 soon. What would you guy's get if you had a choice between a 97 m3/4 or a 95 m3. I know that ODB I is easier to mod and I'd like to come close to 300bhp when im done (N/A). Also, keep in mind that I only have about 25 k to spend on the car.

    Thanks,

    Steve

depends on your needs. if you don't need a backseat, i would try to find a low mile '95. if you have a family i would go with the '97. keep in mind there might be an OBDII cam kit coming out that will put out around 300hp at the crank for about $3k-$4k. it's not cheap, but those are good numbers. if it ever comes out.

    DSK,

Would one notice any performance difference in the 3.2 motor over the 3.0? I would love to get an m3/4 but it has to be a manual and I have a hard time locating one in California (have to satisify the bank).

Most certainly. With the additional torque low-end on the 3.2 motor, and the shorter final drive on the 96+ M3's, driving around town is a little more pleasant on the 96+ M3's. I love my 99, but I'd consider a 95 in a heartbeat if I found a good one in good shape and at a reasonable cost. You can get to 300hp easily with the Schrick cam kit already available for the 95's.
