Overview (from Larry Kniess, BMW ACA Portland chapter)
The Portland Chapter BMW ACA will be represented in corral again this
year.
This is a great event that you will not want to miss. This three-day
event
gives you a chance to show off your car, get to know your fellow club
members and get up close to some fantastic vintage automobiles. The
event
will be held at Portland International Raceway (PIR) July 12*,13, & 14,
2002.
The 26th annual Baxter Auto Parts Portland Historic Races are a
northwest
tradition that offers fun for the entire family. Participation at the
event
includes some of the most celebrated vintage cars in history. More than
250
prestigious cars are divided into groups according to their age and
horsepower to compete on the 1.95-mile track in the true spirit of
vintage
racing. This year, the featured race group will be a field of Can-Am
racecars. The event also features a spectacular display of more that
700
collector cars and 200 of the finest collector hot rods in the
northwest.
You too will be part of this display, as your car will be featured in
the
corral. There will be awards for best of show, so spend some time
making you
car look its best.
For the small fee of $35.00($130.00 value) you and your guest will get
a
three-day pass including inside corral parking. You will also receive a
dash
plaque and the chance to participate in the Parade lap. This lap is
limited
to 25 cars on Sat. & Sun. so come early to get at the front of the
group.
*The event and the races run on Friday from 10am - 5pm as well, but us
Seattle folk generally don't show up this day. You will still get two
passes from Friday with your registration, so you are welcome to show
up for
the races on Friday.
