Thinking about buying an E30 for daily

What should I expect to pay for a sound E30?
One that has been cared for and has about 150K-170 Kmiles?

Average price for one like that would prolly be around $3000. Great little cars too. I own two of them.

I have a very clean white, 2-door, 5-speed 87 325e for sale that's being stored in Los Angeles. It has higher miles (around 240K) but was impeccably maintained by its first owner until last Jan. and by me since then. Asking $2K. Email me at bigwagon (at) pacbell.net if interested.

I'd go for the 325is. It depends on the price. I bought mine for $1200, but I've seen them go for 3k. Average price is probably around 2k. I'd go for the '90 though so you don't have the diving board bumpers like my '87

When I was searching, a nice clean 325is was hard to come by, most were rough, I finally found a 1989 325i for $2500 with a super clean interior and very well maintained(mechanically) but the draw back is, it does need some body work to be perfect, it's a good 15ft car , eventually it will have all new panels and paint.
Might want to try roadfly.org and bmwcca.org for an e30.

I see you're in SoCal, you should not have a problem finding a clean E30 for $3000 or less. I got lucky, my 1991 325i was only $1500 but it has high miles and whatnot. Check www.autotrader.com and www.recycler.com and I bet you'll find something. Considering you drive an E36 M3, I think the E30 for you would be a 325i or 325is. You will most likely be unhappy with a 318 or 325e.

    Thanks guys, still looking.
Ebay seems like a pretty iffy way to buy a car, but it does have value (to me) in what to expect to pay for one.
