Who's got their S50 on an engine stand?

I'm trying to find out the bolt size for the 4 I need. I've never put one up on a stand before. Is there a special engine stand bolt? Thanks for any help.

Do you think there's a type with a fatter body for an engine stand? My engine stand has much larger adapter holes than the size for the engine. It seems like it would be loose on the stand if I didn't get a bolt that is thicker around where it attaches to the engine stand adapters.

it wouldn't matter, why would you need to fit the diameter of the stand holes?? they'll be fine, never had any problems. might wanna use some washers on each side of the bolts

Ok, I'll try that then, once I find out the exact size of those bolts. I really have to find my Bentley manual. I've never put an engine on a stand before, so that's why I'm asking these stupid obvious things.

Yeah if you have the tranny bolts use them, and put some spacers on it as they are too long otherwise. Also this is pretty common sense, but bolt the holder thing onto the engine first then use an engine Žlift to raise it higher than the stand, then slip the stand onto the mount and lower it. If that makes any sense.

4 bellhousing bolts and 4 washers. Works excellent (as my motor has been on the stand for almost 2 years now ).

Ok, I'm back to where I started. The dealership gave me the wrong fookin size. I called back and knowbody there could help me. I called an independent shop here in town and they don't even know. I can't find this information anywhere. What size bolts did you all use? The ones I was told to go out and get were 10 x 1.5. They just move in and out without catching hold. What's the secret?

The larger bolts for bellhousing to block are M12 bolts. You'll need 4 of these.

Ok, copy that M12. Now do you know if its 1.5 or 1.25 thread pitch? It looks like 1.5, but not sure.

Dunno. ETK does not show that.

Do you have one of the reverse torx bellhousing bolts to take with you?

Of course, you could buy 4 of each and take the 4 back you don't need

I got it finally. Got a hold of a parts guy who was proactive enough to actually take the bolt off one of the cars and measure the bolt. Lets just hope he puts it back. The size is M12 x 1.75 for future reference. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the info. So you need 4 M12x1.75 bolts to mount to the engine stand? Do you have a p/n for these?

Also, can you post a pic of the adapter mounted to the engine?

Yes, four M12 x 1.75 bolts. The bolt length and number of washers depend on the length of your adapter bracket tubes. I used a 100mm length bolt and only needed 1 washer. I'll post a picture for you later.

Here's the photo you requested. You can see the top 2 bolts really well. The left bottom one is in view too. The bottom right one didn't make it. I had to really contort my body to take this photo because the engine is currently backed up against a wall to get it out of the way. Let me know if you need a better photo.

Mine averaged (I went three separate times asking for different sizes) about $3.50 from Napa Auto Parts.
