So who would win this race? My Friend thinks the Celica can take the Bimmer. What do you think???

I don't think the celica has a chance, go kill him.
car and driver gives the 0-60 a 7.5 sec....u should be able to tear ur friend a new asshole (please do not try this at home)
ha speaking of those 2 cars.....I just got a 95 325i and my friend just got a 01 celica gts.
We were somewhere around Barstow when the drugs began to take hold.
I think the Bimmer would take it.
Of course, a lot depends on the driver. And not just on his skills. A lot depends on how hard the driver is willing to push his car (drop the clutch, smoke the rears, etc.).
Go out and try it somewhere safe. That's what friends and fast cars are for.

I've raced a 2001 Celica GTS before...they're no competition. I have a 92 325is with chip/exhaust/intake. you'll be able to whoop him.

I really don't understand why the celica even has 6th gear. I understand 6 speeds in Euro M3's but not teeny weeny celicas.

Speaking of which:
What's the preferred technique? I always feel like first gear is so short that I have to shift at 10mph and can't keep up speed unless I keep my foot down on the gas and dump the clutch into second (which I don't do because I like my clutch). Anyone else frustrated with the shortness and clunkiness of first gear?

i sorta wish i had 6 gears....i have 318 on the highway up at higher speeds it revs so high would be nice to knock down those revs in another gear.....

The only embarisment I have had is trying to race a new Nisan Maxima.
If I loose to an Infinity Q45 or Lexis GS400 I am proud for them since we only have 6 cylinders yet we get 27mpg and can beat them arround the corner.
I also expect to get beat by almost any motorcycle. :
Celica... Pfhuh!! Not a chance.:o
You got beat by a maxima? Do you have any mods done to your car?
How would a 325IS hold up to a '98 Ford Mustang non-GT? I think it has like a 4.2 liter engine, my friend says he is going to smoke my ass, but everytime I say I will race him he comes up with an excuse(Thank you for catching my mistake, I am not to proficient at typing or spelling).

non GT does'n that mean its a 6cyl ?? look at the exhaust see if it has two pipes or one.....if it has two then its v-8.....i think 98 GT's ran low 15's

If it is the Mustang V6, you should be able to take him, although I think they have nearly 200 hp, so I wouldn't brag about it before it happens.Originally posted by Hyperion

If it's the GT, stay parked.
By the way, it's "excuse", not "accuse".

No mods yet. Although my ECIS might show up tomorrow. Then I have to figure out a chip that best suites the altitude here in Denver.
you should be able to SMOKE a non-GT's ass without ANY problems.....whether his car be a stick or auto. be confident that you'll kick butt...best of luck
