Need help. Removing nut from top of strut shaft

Trying to install new suspension and i could not remove the nut that holds the upper mount to the top of the front strut. i guess these things are loctited on from the factory, and mine wont budge.

i dont have any air tools. i took a socket that fits the nut, and ground the sides flat so i could put a big wrench on it, then i slid a 6mm allen wrench thru the socket to hold the strut tube still. when i turn the big wrench on the socket, the allen wrech shaft just twists.

anybody have this problem before? how did you get the nut off? it is on there good. i even used a spring compressor to take the thrust load off it.

    please help.

    thanks

impact is the only way. drive it to a shop and have them crack it loose then hand tighten for the trip home.

While an air impact is definitely the way to go, you can get it started with a hand impact driver. Once you get it loose, then you can use your 22mm socket with the flats to finish the job.

    Good luck!
