    Help: with bizarre radio problems

The radio in my 98 M3/2 with HK was recently changed under warranty. Now I get crappy reception on all radio stations. Also, when cold in the morning I don't get radio reception at all for awhile, then all of a sudden the radio kicks in. CD changed works fine at all times regardless of temperature.

Dealer tried to remove radio and check all connections, then put it back in with no improvement.

Now I'm starting to wonder if there is some sort of antenna adapter/amplifier given that the antenna is in the rear defroster. Maybe the defroster itself is bad? Or maybe it's just the connection?

Does anybody know something about this?

    Many thanks,

Have them check the amplified antenna.

I had a problem with my antenna amp. The dealer replaced it under warranty and all is well. It's located on the driver side C-pillar. You could check the connections there.

I have a stock HK system in my 97 car. For about a year now, the radio craps out and won't "play" at all. This is precipitated by some very annoying static, then it eventually dies.

This only affect the FM band. The AM, Weather band, and CD still work. I figure there's a loose connection inside the head unit.
