Just replaced O2 Sensor, Check engine light still on!

    Hi,

My check engine light has been on for about a week now, and I diagnosed the code (OBD I) and got 1221, EGO sensor # 1. I replaced my O2 sensor about 1 hour ago, and I turn on my car and still get the check engine light with the same fault code. What could be wrong?? Do I have to give it time to adjust or is something else causing the problem?

Two things. Maybe you need to replace both sensors. You probably need to have the code cleared in order to turn off the light.

    LIGHT IS GONE!

Finally, after 10-15 minutes of driving, that damn light went away. I'm so happy now! Thanks for your help
