I broke off the stud in the in the picture when torquing the valve cover after replacing the gasket. Can someone help me identify the part number for that stud. I have looked in the ETK and I can't figure out which part it is. And I'm sure the local BMW dealers parts departments are as useless. Thanks ahead.
Forgot the add that the car is a 2000 Z3 Coupe 2.8 with the M52TUB28 engine.
I'd unscrew it and bring it with you. If you post the dimensions (M6 x 30mm) I'll try to find the p/n for you.

I think the proper stud is an M6x30 which is part number three in the ETK pictured below. However, the ETK shows a drawing that looks nothing like the part so I can't be sure.

6x30 mm stud: 07 12 9 908 102.
Extract it and bring it with you so you get the right one.

For the archive. The correct part number is 11 12 1 718 856. The stud is very soft so any more torque applied beyond the amount recommended will break it.
I busted one of these bad boys today. stupid torque wrench. Having a hard time finding it however, 11121718856 is the part number.
Only found it at one place, Pelicanparts.com, and its 5 days til they can ship it. I need this baby NOW so i can get back on the road.
Anyone have an idea of where else I can get one?
PS: Bumping a super old assed thread = using the search feature!

Go to a hardware store and buy a 6mm x 30mm stud already. There not made out of Kryptonite. It's just a stud.
Thanks for the attempt at help, but it isnt "just a stud" The threads on it stop half way up and half way down, and there is a ridge on the unthreaded area. With a unique bolt on top. Thanks
