Of all the systems on my cars, it's the electrical ones I hate the most.
My E30 has started blowing the fuse that protects the circuit for the tach and OBC (probably other things as well that I haven't reseached yet.
It wouldn't be a big deal if it weren't for the fact that every time I replace the fuse (twice now) I have to reset the OBC for the US settings.
Any ideas?
Only general suggestions. Get hold of a manual for your car and see what circuits that particular is protecting. Once you know that you will be in a position to troubleshoot the problem. It would help if you mentioned the number and amperage of the fuse that is going out. Some systems are served by several fuses. The OBC is affected by fuses 10, 12, 21, 23, and 27. This is from my Bentley manual. The tach is covered by fuses 10 and 21. It appears that things aren’t so simple as might be desired.
I agree strongly that electrical gremlins are the worst, especially those that are intermittent.
Good luck,
Joe Stephenson
It's fuse #21, 7.5 Amp. The placard is missing so I don't know what other circuits it's protecting. I'm going to do a search.

This is for an E30 M3. Does fuse #21 control the same stuff on a 1989 325is?
Hey Scott, I have the entire electronics schematics to your car, it's 16MB, want me to email it to you?
Thanks, but my Bentley manual just came via fedex just now.....I'm reading it as we speak (type?). I appreciate the offer though!
Looks like I've got some little projects this weekend.....new hoses, timing belt along with all the other front-of-the-motor maintenance stuff. And now, this electrical issue. I'll get it sorted.
