CNC M62/M62TU Timing Chain Deflector Rail

Saw these guys working with Sreten (M539 Restorations) on one of his latest builds and now they’ve released the U guide for both the S62 and M62. Looks like a solid part that should last well past what the original BMW part was ever intended for. They’re currently doing a 20 count batch of preorders to gauge interest for this platform but maybe it’ll spark additional hop up parts for the E38 versus focusing primarily on the E39.

That looks fantastic. I’ve got a slow motion m62tub rebuild going for a future street/track project car and will definitely grab one of these for it.

That does look like a nice upgrade. Although I'm a little curious why they went the route of a better guide rail instead of coming up with a retrofit to a center pulley like the M60 had (but for an M62TU). The reduced loading on the center guides with a pulley in there seems like it would make it easier to make the guides last.

That would be slick. But isn’t the m60 a double chain setup, and would that add some complexity? I thought I recall reading or seeing that somewhere.

Yes, the M60 is a double row chain. IIRC you can convert an M62 to the M60 timing setup, but not an M62TU as you can't swap M60 cam gears due to VANOS. But if a company is going to design a better center guide setup, there's no reason they couldn't design a gear setup for the M62 single row chain. Or VANOS units that allow use of the M60 double row parts.

at $700 ill pass lol. i dont mind pulling the covers off and doing the guides every 150k + fcp lifetime warranty on all my parts. youre gonna need to take the covers off to replace leaking gaskets anyways and adress other stuff if not doing guides. this seems silly, especially at 700 bucks. JMO.
