    M52 block resurfacing

Building an engine for e46 spec class. M52tu. All information shows compression ratio as 10.2:1. Pre-assembled and have deck height of .110”(2.7mm) .030(.7mm) gasket and 35cc chamber nets 9.2:1.
question being, how much can be removed from the block without causing issue with the timing chain/tensioner. Info from anyone who has removed 1mm+ from deck and what the result was will be much appreciated. Thanks

1mm seems like a lot. Piston to deck clearance might be a real problem?

As I said. Piston to deck is measured at 2.7mm. I could take 2.5mm from the deck without issue, it’s the timing chain that is the problem and I don’t really want to go to the trouble of making shims for the cam boxes.
