I daily a 2001 SVT Lightning I bought new. It is not stock, I have basically doubled the factory horsepower. For several months, some kid in a fairly new Mustang had been revving on me, dying to race me. He got his wish.

I drive this truck during the winter too - I place 600-ish pounds of weight in the bed to give me some traction in the snow. This particular time the snow had cleared and here this kid comes - revving his motor.

OK, kid, enough. Light turned red and we were lined up at 5AM with nobody else around. Seconds before the light turned green, I remembered the weight in the back. The streets were completely dry so I had some excellent traction. Here we go.

The light turned green, the kid punched it, I let him get a fender on me and I planted the pedal. The truck leaped ahead of him and when I let off, he was two car lengths behind me. But - as I'm slowing down for the next red light, I heard an all-to-familiar tick, tick, tick. I had broken a u-joint. So I tick, tick, ticked my way to work real careful like, and did the same careful driving to the parts store, and the same to the house. Thankfully I made it home without dropping a driveshaft.

The kid? Well, he wouldn't even look at me at the next light. I continued working, saw him many times after that and had no more of him revving his motor at me.
