Anyone find a brand/model aftermarket seat that fits the '97 Z3 well and allows the use of the stock seatbelt arrangement?
My stock driver's seat has 79,000 miles of butt wear so I am kind of sitting at an angle.
Sadly I'm wicked skinny so no natural padding to even things out.
I've looked at rebuilding but the prices to do it right are absolutely outrageous - as in Sparco's and Recaro's at $1800 look much better!
Looking for "bolt in" with rails and realize I'll lose all the electronics and that is fine.
Thanks

Look for a set of sport seats from an M Roadster or other with oprional seats. Much better than the normal seats and should just bolt in I would hope. If you search, there are a couple of threads with aftermarket seats also.
Some people have had good results by steaming the existing foam back to it's original plumpness, which isn't a lot but much better than old worn and dried up foam. There are also genuine leather seat covers available from different sources. These are designed to go over the the existing leather.
I've refurbished a couple of motorcycle seats by gluing on extra foam and then carving it to shape using various tools like an electric carving knife, rasps and sand paper. If my Z3 seats ever need refurbishing, I'll probably do something along those lines as my budget is very limited.
I would prefer a set of M Roadster or sport seats but I find that used ones in good shape are asking for a lot of cash.
A couple of folks on the forum, like Coconut Pete have managed to install aftermarket seats like Sparco but it took some ingenuity and fabrication to do it.
I'm a fan of the Sparco R100, but they may not be everybody's cup of tea.

1) where did the seatbelt guides come from?
2) is there a bracket specific to the Z3 that works well for mounting?

Willing to share (or sell) that file maybe?

They are not exactly "plug-n-play" - you need to chop up your stock brackets to cut the sliders free of the up/down mechanism and bolt them on.
You'll also need to mount the motor (they are power seats) and find a way to wire it up.
Here is what I did:

If you wan the files I can send them to you, just PM me your email address.
