    Draining Fuel

What is the best way to drain out the gas tanks, I was reading prior threads where they say you can just disconnect the middle line between the 2 tanks ? Is this right ? The car was sitting for 10 years.

    Cool

I used that method, it works. Are you going to clean and seal the tanks ?

Thanks, I was just removing the old fuel. I am unsure about cleaning and sealing them ? What does the process entail ? I was just going to drain the old fuel and put new fuel in to start her up. Perhaps change the fuel filter ?

You will know much more when you see what comes out of the tanks. Mine were "empty" for close to 30 years while the car sat. What came out was a cross between honey and shellac. About 1/2 gallon. I drained, then Dawn dish soap, muriatic acid, more dawn, then literally weeks of a pieces of tow chain being shaken around inside to loosen the rust/corrosion. Then cleaned again and finally POR-15. They look like new now. Luckily, they were very solid and no soft spots. Replaced all fuel lines, pumps and filter. No problems. Worth the effort. Good luck!!

Removing the crossover hose will get most of the liquid out, but won't do much to clean any remaining nastiness inside.

They're not actually all that hard to completely remove. Is there a radiator shop near you that can handle it?
