I want to lease a bmw. The only thing holding me back is cost of insurance. They force you to buy comprehensive insurance when you lease. I don't want comprehensive, I don't need comprehensive. Anyway, I went to those websites that give you an insurance quote. I entered the most conservative information possible, some of them false, just to test it out. married, no DUI, have had a license since I was 16, own a home, phd degree, no accidents. It came up with $800 a month. Does this sound right to you, or these people are crazy?
I know it's a crazy idea, but have you checked with your broker or a few insurance agents IRL for a rate?

I don't have a broker. insurance agents in real life ask too much personal information to give you a quote. They would want to know my name and drivers license number. They would want to know the vin of the car which doesn't exist. I don't like dealing with stupidity.

I've never leased a car before and was surprised at the insurance cost for my 2024 Model 3 RWD. That car is $2500. In comparison, I have a 2022 Model Y Performance that I own outright, and the insurance is half that. I have been told that lease insurance is more because of higher liability amounts, but I have high liability on my cars as well.
