Just a check in on this forum as I have several other BMW's. Just sold my wife's 2017 X1 2.0s... Car was pretty good overall and the wife liked it but, frustrating to work on. First and last time I'll own a car with a tranverse mounted engine and front wheel drive.
Bought a 2021 330i... same engine but mounted correctly with proper rear wheel drive. The dashboard, iDrive, key setup is never ending but we're getting there... overly feature rich actually. One thing that has thwarted me is the Stop/Stall feature. Annoying that I have to disable it every time I start the car... haven't figured out how to have it remain in disabled mode... remember last setting it was called in older models.
I do work on my cars with my fellow garage crew so we're fairly knowledgeable, particularly on older chassis... E30, E36, E46, E39. Hopefully I can lend my help when things go awry.
Cheers!
Lime Rock Park... the most fun you can have in a mile and a half.
I share your frustration. I have a 2020 G20 330i. I too have been disabling the annoying "safety" features. I just ordered a Carly Universal Scanner. It is a small device that plugs into the OBD port, and it gets paired with your smartphone app for the product. It enables you to access your vehicle's control units and make changes accordingly. When I receive the unit and work with it, I can post my results / experience.
If you're looking to do it from phone / mobile device only, get Bimmercode instead.
