with the M70 camshafts Ive noted that there is a left and right camshaft
presumably the left would be a mirror image of the right or ground in an opposite direction to other, either way is it possible to install the camshafts in the wrong side? and if so what would the result be? its been a long time so i don't remember much about the camshafts and the dbilas cams that are in there fitted by the previous owner but looking through the Realoem catalog i have noted that there is a right and left cam
The left side (driver side) is longer as the head is offset back by an inch or so.
Impossible to mix them up without stopping the rest the engine assembly.
Edit: I might have left/right mixed up. Point still stands

thank you,good
1 less possibility
it looking more and more certain that the reason my csi wont idle smoothly is the dbilas camshafts
my problem now appears to be only 1 side (LEFT?)CSI camshaft is available Via BMW and I'm not sure if i can get Schrick

DM Wokke. He may be able to help. I believe he can do custom regrinds. I recall his opinion on Dbilas cams is negative—comment is in the forum somewhere—specifically their idle.

Are the camshafts pictured the original CSi cams?
If so, they don't look so bad. And may perhaps be salvageable. Have you taken them to an engine machine shop to be evaluated?
Rgds...
Ah. Sorry for the confusion. Those are, sadly, M70 cams.
