Heartfelt Greetings fellow 8ers...
I can't believe it's been ~7 years since my last post here. With so many years away, I thought I should re-introduce myself to the community.
I'm a former long-time contributor to BimmerForums. And also to (the now defunct) RoadFly forums before that. And (reaching way back to the late 1990's) I participated in Paul Michael Brown's 8 Series ListServ - - which many consider to be the birthplace of the 8 Series online community.
Over the decades, I've wrenched, modified, retrofitted, raced, and generally loved everything E31 related since buying my first one ~25 years ago. Some of the old timers here may recall my Twin Turbo 850 project. And my subsequent supercharger projects for the M70 and M73 motors. And my crazy remote chip tuning endeavors. Not to mention all of the meticulously detailed DIY and "Boost Junkie" posts from the early days (sadly lost when Roadfly folded).
Unfortunately life changes caused a longer than desired "pause" from the E31 Community. We moved to Japan in 2010. Then to Switzerland in 2014.
Shortly thereafter, my wife diagnosed with the big "C". And inevitably my involvement in the community waned. And then stopped altogether.
I have fond memories of this forum and the amazing community members here. I hope to reacquaint myself with the old and the new. And to catch up on at least a bit of what I missed during my absence.
So to those of you who may remember me, a humble hello again. And to those that I have not yet met, hello for the first time.
Big Love to you All. It feels great to be back.

Hello! No pics of your car?
John,
Welcome Back,
As you can anticipate, "with life"
A lot has changed!
But, some things never do!
Rod...
Welcome back John. A bunch of us "oldies" are still here!

Big Thanks, Rod. So great to see some familiar names here. Have many fond memories of 8-Fest. Is anyone still organizing those since Steve Cohen passed and Marty Sarracino moved abroad?

Welcome back! I’m an E31 owner because of RoadFly.
1993 850Ci.....18 years & 165,000 miles and counting!
Welcome. I have always been a huge fan of your work. Time to get back into the game
Great to hear you’re still around. What are the chances that you’ll produce kits again?
Thanks for the welcome. :-)
Chance of producing more is very close to zero. But in unpacking stuff that's been in storage for 5+ years, I found 1 complete SC kit, one nearly complete SC kit, my old twin turbo kit (and all of the tooling and machines used to create them), several extra SC head units, brackets, intercoolers, and a whole slew of other stuff. PM me if interested.

Hey John! Welcome back!!
The my SC 8 is running strong and pretty well, however the only thing it lacks is a standalone engine management system...
John
Good to hear from you again. I’ve thought about you often over the years. I still have the green 850Ci you used as the test bed for your M73 supercharger, and have also added John Suit’s old 850CSi to my garage. Take care!

Welcome back. Your post made me go back and see how long I've had mine. 21 years, yikes.

Welcome back John! Long time member that’s still here and hope that one day I can turbocharge or supercharge my e31! We welcome you back with open arms and hope that you can still shine light and your expertise in this e31 forum! Wish we were able to archive all the data that was in the roadfly forums, but for now we have some good stuff here. Godspeed!
Welcome back John, it's been a while!

The good old RoadFly days...
Welcome back John. I have not been on the forum often. your supercharger in my 850 is reliable and still a blast! I came on to seek troubleshooting advice. Are you working on anything the forum would benefit from. Still have SC kits? How about turbo Kits?
Hey Ed. Glad to know you're still around. And that the boosted dragon is still going strong. Fantastic !!!
Have some ideas for you re: standalone. Let's have a call. You still have the same phone number? PM me latest along with best days/times - - keeping in mind that I'm 9 hours ahead of you - - and I'll give you a ring.

Hello there Mr. Barrett !!!
So happy to know you're still around as well. I remember hearing that you ended up with Johnny's red CSi. I remember it was super clean / beautiful condition.
Are there any more East Coast events since Marty moved away? Would love to connect with some of the crew at some point. And that would be a reason to fly back. :-)

Yep. Lots of miles and years on the odometer. :-)

Thanks. Will try to keep current going forward. Moving locations is always more complicated and demanding than you expect. Visualize 300 square feet of parts stacked floor to ceiling with barely room to navigate around anything.
Still in the midst of unpacking everything to see what's what. :-)

How you doing Sir? Jeez. Trying to remember the last time I saw you. Was it in California when Steve Cohen was still around? That was like 2010-ish wasn't it?

I have tons of stuff. Still sorting through crates that have been in storage for the last ~10 years. Definitely have at least 1 full Stage 3 kit. Partial (lightly used) Stage 2 bits and possibly enough parts to assemble one Stage 3+. And most of the tooling needed to build TT kits (which is something I endeavored to do but life got in the way).
PM me with your number and best days/time to call. I'm still in Switzerland so please be mindful re: time zone.
