I was called away suddenly and did not have time to prep my car for storage. When I got back the battery was dead which I expected. Upon attaching the battery charger the anti theft alarm went off. If I remove the alarm fuse can I then charge the battery without the alarm going off? That being said I looked at the diagrams of the two fuse box locations and there is no mention of an fuse for the anti theft alarm. So where could it be?
Thanks
Have you tried to connect power to the battery and press the unlock button a few times on the remote control, or hold the key next to the ignition column (without pressing the brake pedal) and have ignition come on?
Also, you haven't identified the car at all, so we're here with minimal info.

Oh, this is the F10 chassis code 5-series subforum. You have the E70 chassis X5.
Either way, the 6 cyl came in 2 flavors, gasoline or diesel. They should be identical in those electronics.
I would try either pushing the unlock button on the remote when the alarm comes on and/or sticking the key in the ignition slot fully and pressing the start button once (without pressing brake pedal).

Hi Abel, i been reading your post about F30 engine replacement and just checking if you onow of anyone in Houston that do that kind of work or if i happen to do them too. Looks like its not just a straight engine replacmemnt but rather need some coding on it
I've had that happen before too. Best bet is to disconnect the battery before charging it. That way, you won’t set off the alarm. If you can’t find a fuse for the anti-theft system, it might be part of the main fuse box or a relay. I had to dig through my car’s manual to figure it out, or you could ask a pro for help.
Disconnecting power to the alarm siren will not prevent it from sounding off. The alarm siren has it's own internal battery. It is designed to sound off if there's a sudden drop in voltage...which it interprets as a theft attempt, so it will sound off.
If your car battery is low, then charge it (use the dedicated pos/neg jump start terminals in the engine bay). If the alarm siren goes off...either try to stop the alarm by locking/unlocking the vehicle using the remote's buttons...and if that doesn't work, then insert the key in the ignition (or start the vehicle if you have the START button). Once the vehicle recognizes the ISN (individual serial number) encryption from the key, the alarm siren should shut off since it recognizes that a correct key with the correct encryption is present.
There should also be instructions in the owners manual on how to deactivate the alarm siren if it gets activated.
