Wire Diagram for 2002 '72, Series Pre71

Hi all,

New here to the Forum.
Does anyone know where I can find a Wire Diagram for a 2002 1972, Series Pre71, Market BE?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Billy,

Well is your 2002 is from 1972, that’s a “Modell 71” car.
It can’t be a pre-Modell 71… The next big change were the Modell 73 squaretails which appeared in 1974.

Anyway, here’s two diagrams (from the ‘Blue Book’ Repair Service Manual).

The first is for 2002 12V Euro cars Pre-Modell 71 (~1969-1971 cars).
The second is for 2002 Euro Modell 71 (1972-73 cars).

Thanks for your kind reply.
I did find it a little illogical that a car registered in 1972 was classified as "Pre 71", but I figured it had something to do with English not being my first language.
The initial reason behind my guess, was a schedule found online which defines the series through the Chassis Number.

My car is numbered as 174-8572, so according to that schedule it should be “Pre 71”, or perhaps I’m missing something?

Hi GB. Oh, I see now. Your car’s VIN is listed in a range spanning 1968-1972, due to its country of origin (BE). While the early cars in that range are Pre-71, the latter are Modell 71, lol. (They didn’t keep building the Pre-71s all the way into 1972…)

The latest FAQ production data covering your cars chassis number attached…

Given that, you should find the second of the two wiring diagrams I provided is correct for your car.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for your reply once again.
It is slightly confusing that mine should be a "Model-71" when the schedule says "Pre-71". I wouldn't have a chance to figure that out myself, without the knowledge received from you.
And just to complicate things even further; the previous owner has installed a tii engine under the hood, which means yet another wire diagram when fiddling with that part of the car ;D
