Questions re upper strut mount 1994 Euro M3

So 15 years ago I rebuilt the suspension with dinar /koni struts Vorshlag camber plates new control arms and power flex offset control arm bushings. The car was set up as a dual street light track use. Neg camber was about -2.8 and turn in is excellent. I no longer track the car and the NVH can get irritating especially hitting big bumps on the street with a lack of rubber in the front strut top mounts. I have a set of turner fixed camber plates to go along with the stock upper strut mounts. They were removed about 15 years ago and had 70,000 km on them. The cost of new ones is ridiculous for the BMW branded ones. I have come across KYB branded ones at a reasonable price but they list the same part for all years of the E36 M3 and they also have a left and a right part number. I know the later 3.2 cars had a left and a right mount but the 3.0 l cars have the same part number for the 2 sides. Something is not adding up. here is a link to what I have found. https://partsavatar.ca/1995-1999-bmw...hoCrp4QAvD_BwE

My options are to reuse the old mounts I have, try these or cough up the price for new BMW OEM parts
What is the opinion of the suspension gurus here. Has any one used these KYB parts on a 3L car?

This is the best price I have seen for the genuine article and they do not appear to be stock

I wouldn't trust KYB. Reach out to schmiedmann and see what their lead time is for the OEM ones.

While you're at it, since your car is a 94/95- I recommend going with the e90 aluminum spring perches or "drop hats" (p/n31336764093). They are backwards compatible with e30 and 94/95 e36 m3 applications given their similar suspension geometry.

They are lighter, easier on the strut mounts, and offer a 0.4" drop in the front without negatively affecting suspension geometry, spring rate, travel, or binding against the strut mount. I run them on my refresh stock suspension 95 m3 and really gave it the perfect drop

The KYBs are junk. I purchased them when changing the front struts and replaced with OEM BMW. 2 of the studs came loose and another snapped when installing the strut brace. No I did not over torque them. The bearing doesn't feel as nice either.

Pity the KYBs are crap. The pictures of them on Pelican don't exactly inspire confidence either....

Not to mention I used to love using Pelican back in the day. But when they showed KW V2s in stock on their site and took my money then didn't send me a shipping confirmation for over a week. I had to call them to get an answer to what was going on. They told me they were on back order. I got my money back and they never changed the site status to back order. I stop using them from that point on. Maybe I overreacted but oh well.

Thank you all for your replies. As far the recommendation for the aluminium drop hats, I am using Dinan Springs on this car having installed them about 15 years ago. Does the same recommendation apply?

i don’t. Dinan springs already lower the car by up to an inch up front and reduce suspension travel. If you use this you will be riding on bump stops
