I own a 2001 750il (83K miles) , and recently bought a 1995 750il (89K miles)
the 2001 had an edc issue, always a rock hard ride, tried 5 modules from Ebay, I typically use ISTA and tried to read codes or errors, same with ncs, never any luck, never was able to communicate. I have looked at and worked on 20 or more E38' s with EDC, and never found a car where it worked as intended, most of them the EDC light not even turn on, and if it did there was no change in the ride, always hard.
So, I got the wiring diagram , a 6V power supply, a few relays and switches and wired it up manually, so now I have a toggle switch to select comfort or sport. I wired it up so I can control the back and front separately. Works really well.
The EDC shocks are pretty good, if you have a hard ride it is most likely a control issue with the EDC CPU.
The 95 750il I recently bought had a functional EDC, never seen one that worked, but I think that early 750 has an EDC III vs the EDC4 used in the later models.
Henri.
Good stuff! Neat you were able to custom hard wire a switch.
Odd you’ve NEVER had one that works tho. My 2001 had a faulty module, but the one i bought off ebay seemed to function and communicate fine.
