For those of you in search of zoom (M73 cars only) . . .

I just installed the [upgraded?][improved?] transmission control unit (TCM) that m6bigdog has made available for the M73 cars. I don't know how many of you there are on this forum that haven't performed this upgrade, but just do it. Without question the easiest, best bang for the buck you can do for your car. I now have full sport mode as well as manual mode, and the installation takes all of about 10-15 minutes. This literally makes my 850Ci as quick and fun to drive as my 850CSi (heresy, I know), without having to row through the gears. I know that these won't be available forever, and I'm not sure how many he has left, so all I can say is -- GET IT! I promise you won't be disappointed.

Reading all the comments about this mod makes me want an M73 car more LOL and I'm so manual-transmission-obsessed I swapped a 6 speed manual into my Excursion. Sounds like a great mod to a great car for sure!

    Mike,
Thanks for posting your experience with the 850-M73 SD-TCM upgrade...
You said it.. 850-M73 "as quick and fun to drive as my 850CSi", you should know...

I always thought that BMW didn't offer the Sport Mode option with the M73 for fear of the competition and hurting CSi sales!!
Well, the 850-M73 Sport Mode is now an available option!!

I just harvested another 7 TCM's from eBay for upgrade with SD EPROMs.
I only have a couple upgraded SD-TCM,s ready to ship and this will allow me to make what I anticipate will be the last production run, before summer.

    Lots to read:
