Wiper operation questions

Hi all -
Working on my 1984 633CSi. The wipers work fine until I turn them off. They stop immediately (anywhere), then slowly creep to the "Park" position. Anybody seen this? I can think of a few causes: the on/off lever, the wiper control unit, or is there a Park position sensor in the wiper motor? Any ideas welcomed! I'm trying to avoid paying $300 or so for a new control unit.....

Also, a question: I see that my car has 2 windshield washer tanks and pumps, spray thru the same nozzles,operated by 2 different switches! WTF? Why would this be needed? Different glass cleaners??

To the second question, the black reservoir in the cowl is for a solvent that
was available from BMW in the old days for intense cleaning like for bugs and stuff.

For the first question I don't even have a suggestion.

Now, to solve the "Wipers not Parking" question - any ideas y'all?
