My 2002 has sidedraft Webers. It's always started well, even after sitting for a while. Replaced the mechanical woodpecker of a fuel pump with an in-line electric, and fired it up. It ran, but with a bit of a miss, which I put down to it sitting for too long.

However now it doesn't want to start, or it wants to but won't, meaning it sounds like it's going to catch but doesn't. Spark is good, I added some fresh gas to the older but not ancient fuel, battery is good. Fuel regulator has been at 2psi the whole time I've owned it, I've tried increasng it to 3psi as I've read that is more common with the Webers.

I'm considering draining the fuel as when I checked for fuel at the carbs it looked not as clear as I would expect, although it looks clean and there's plenty of it. It's damp (think Seattle) here, if that makes any difference.

It's been such a reliable starting car and the only real change is the pump, but I just can't see it creating a problem, and it did fire up after I installed it.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.
