    e36 325i track car

    Hello everyone,

I wanted to make a track build out of a e36 325i with a M52B25 engine for competing in BGDC in Belgium. (i doubt anyone is familiar with it)

I was given a hefty 50k budget (including the car itself) for this project and i am not sure where to start to be honest. so i made 2 small lists of engine components i wanted to change, one with changing the cams and one without changing the cams.

This is the list without changing the cams

    • K&N 57I cold air intake
    • M50 manifold
    • Schmiedmann exhaust manifold
    • Driftshop V2.0 full exhaust
    • ECU (probably going standalone)

My first question is how much hp could gain with these mods. My guess is I can get it to around 230 crank hp but i am really not sure. Keep in mind it is going on a standalone ECU so I can finetune it more.

Then the list when I want change cams:

    • K&N 57I cold air intake
    • M50 manifold
    • Schmiedmann exhaust manifold
    • Driftshop V2.0 full exhaust
    • cams i am really don't know
    • throttle body ??? (does it need to be changed)
    • injectors also not sure about

And also really important, what hp gains am I looking at when changing this?

If I were you I would base the engine build around either going supercharged or turbo. M50 manifold is nothing special and a waste of funds. Oiled air filters are not a good idea since they will get oil on the mafs.

Check Hyde motors for supercharger kits. Make sure the engine is healthy by doing a compression test. Your cooling system will have to be bullet proof since the plastic parts will fail.

You should be searching the forum and web to find all the builds others have done and learn from them.

Hyde motors runs deals throughout the year.

Don't put money into exhaust until the engine work is almost done so you know what its going to look like. Try not to buy anything from ebay unless you absolutely have to. Suspension kit will need to be very adjustable (camber plates), so $1200+ and a quality brand (not from ebay) it should have a warranty.
