Rear view mirror base plate paint?

Very minor upgrade, didn’t want make a thread but do want to ask.

I want to paint the rear view mirror base plate black. One I’m currently using is white, and with glue it looks yellow. Stands out a bit from the front.

Just wondering what type of primer and paint I should use to ensure a nice, smooth finish & maintain compatibility with windshield adhesive.

    Thank you

SEM makes what you want for plastic in a spray can.
Find it at Auto body paint suppliers in your area or Amazon. Scuff the area you will paint. Mask off with masking tape. Prime the part with (Bull dog) which is adhesive promoter, then spray with the sem color you want.

The rear view mirror mount is glued to the window and is a metal finish not painted. . You may introduce a new problem where the mirror falls off after you paint it.

Right, I know. That’s the first thing I thought about - if the glue is meant to bond with the metal, paint might mess it up. Is there a different adhesive I could use or paint that would still allow for a strong bond between the puck and the glass? Thanks
