1978 Getrag - what model tranmission

Does anyone know what model transmission is in the 635 euro 1978; its a dogleg, but wondering what getrag model number;; and is it interchangeable with any other getrag number - bolt up that may have higher 5th gear drive ratio - so I'm not running 3000 rpm at 85mph

You need a 5 speed Getrag 265/6 overdrive gearbox. Most BMWs with M30 engines until mid 1985 had them.
If you get one from the Motronic cars (1979 onward) you need to swap the tacho drive and gear from your 265/5. It doesnt need to be opened for this, just the rear flange needs to come off.

You will be at cca 2500-2600 rpm then
