I am looking at getting a performance chip for my 2017 440i conv. and I have been looking at RaceChip as one option.
I am really looking for a chip that will leave Sport mode enabled at start up, but have read that is not possible?
What is the preferred chip to use on here?
Thanks,
Orlando

These newer cars don't have a "chip" like you would do with old cars. RaceChip is a very primitive piggyback system that simply fools sensors. I would not recommend it.
For additional power, you would need to get a tune from a reputable vendor. This would rewrite the data in the ECU firmware with different settings to push the engine to make more power.
The starting in sport mode is not part of engine ECU tuning, it's a custom coding setting in one of the 22+ electronics modules in the car.

Any recommendations on the tune? Is something like MHD what your referring too? https://mhdtuning.com/collections/mh...icense-for-b58
Is it possible to have sport mode selected by default?
Thanks.

MHD tuning and/or BM3 are the most popular for sure.
Being able to tune it for power over OBD will depend heavily if your car had been updated by a dealer after 2020 sometime. Newer firmware on the engine ECU blocks out tuning, and it would need to be bench unlock first. Just something to keep in mind, just in case.
Starting the car defaulted in sport mode would not be related to any of the tuning stuff.

I ended up going with MHD and flashed there 93 oct. Stage 1 to start. Left the exhaust flap open for sport mode.
Also grabbed BimmerCode for some other modes. Both use the MHD wifi OBDII dongle.
