Help with mc40

I purchased a 2004 mini from a less than knowledgeable person. Well it has a plaq on center area by park brake. Number 515 of 1000 mc40s. Any way I was wondering what makes it a real MC40 and how do I know if it's real or just this plaque was added.

2004 mini cooper s, 6 speed manual, chili red/white roof. Red black interior.

I don't know much about the different trims on these.

no one? I am leaning towards its just a bunch of crap nothing is different than what I can tell other than some carbon fiber on dash and a metal plaque.
