I have not been able to locate a mechanic that can or is willing to work on my car to adjust the valves and reset timing. It runs a little rough and has what sounds like a valve knock. Is there any chance of locating the eqioptmemnt to set the timing and a video or manual that clearly shows how to do a full valve adjustment? Any help would be appreciated
thanks RB
BMW E34 Website has the valve adjustment.
thank you,
You would have to find a BMW specialty shop with an owner in their mid 60s to 70s. That car is 45 years old now and I doubt the techs working on them were early 20s.
Point is, these are an easy wrench. Learn the valve adjustment and oil service. Most of us run Valvoline VR1 or the Castrol GTX Classic.
My timing light has built in advance, works great. From Actron I think. Pick up a half decent DVOM. Mine is a Fluke 88V, probably more than one wants to spend.
thank you. I will do
