New iPhone incompatible

I've been unsuccessful pairing my new iPhone 14 with my 2012 Z4. I emailed BMW customer support, and they contacted me by phone today. I was told the bluetooth software in the iDrive system was not compatible with newer cell phones, and due to the age of my vehicle, BMW was no longer issuing software updates - which means I can't send nor receive phone calls, nor stream music in my car. Apparently BMW doesn't expect their cars to last 11 years!

Go into Settings and Software and see what you currently have.
This is mine with the latest version of the software (don't worry if you only have Telephone as mine is a Combox with music streaming as well)
