I'm replacing my Cam and Crank position sensors on my M60 engine.
On the BMW ETK, there is a shim/plate (12141733000) in the diagram for the cam position sensor, but not the crank position sensor.
When taking both sensors off, I noticed that a shim was installed at the crank sensor, but not the cam sensor.
The sensors look to be original (based on corrosion consistency of the sensor and aluminum mounting point) so I can't tell if it came like this from the factory or whether a mistake was made at some point.
I read somewhere that there should be a gap of 0.5 to 1.5mm between the crank sensor and crank teeth?
TIS never mentions this shim.
Any thoughts on whether to go shim or no shim on either sensors?
I figured if the car works without it and there is no interference, it should be fine. I'd rather not track down an oscilloscope to confirm the wave form of the sensor read out with/without

seems the shim was needed due to some manufacturing inconsistency. If replacing with new sensor perhaps not, measure if it won't start and correct.
