2019 540i XDrive with 70K miles has been diagnosed with collapsed motor mounts. There is nothing noticeable, no vibrations especially at idle. Couple of questions:
1. if no vibrations, how critical is the repair?
2. dealer quoted $2,400 / reputable shop at $1,900... is this reasonable or should I be able to do better?
3. with 70K, should I be having this issue? seems very young for motor mounts.
4. it is still under BMW CPO warranty until 12/23, any chance BMW may pick-up this repair?
Thanks in advance for any advice, much appreciated.
How and by whom was this diagnosed?

Abel, thanks for the reply. BMW San Antonio & BMW Houston (Katy) both diagnosed.
This is from TIS (BMW's workshop manuals):
Notes for engine mount exchange
Instructions for engine mount replacement
The condition of the engine mount cannot be assessed with certainty based on an optical inspection. In order to ensure customer satisfaction, it is therefore recommended to replace both engine mounts to avoid repeat repairs.
In a warranty case, always replace both engine mounts.
Also, according to TIS, to diagnose a worn engine mount on your car, you:
Start the diagnosis system before checking the engine mount.
GRA-PIX-GRRB-22-004-27
Determine the dimension (A) between the engine mounting bracket (1) and the engine mount (2) using the feeler gauge.
Check dimension (A) in the diagnosis system under "Drivetrain\DME\engine mounting\engine mount: Mechanical check".
Observe diagnosis instructions.
Now, absent any symptoms, I'd have to wonder why everyone's checking your engine mounts this way?
Maybe BMW has a service bulletin on it, but I can't find one. And certainly, it seems odd that a 70k mile, four year old car needs engine mounts.
All that said:
Full list price on each mount is $161.

Labor shows as ~4 hours for both sides together.
To me, the prices you've received seem astronomical....but if two dealers gave you that price, they undoubtedly know something I don't.
But if you have a CPO warranty, I'd expect this repair to be covered.

Thanks all for your input.
Does anyone have an opinion whether 70K miles is too early for motor mounts. I like speed but am not overly aggressive.
It's never too early, if you're getting them done, for free, under BMW's CPO warranty.
