I will be going for a more mechanical connection, some 3d printed parts and hardware to make it happen. Will take some trial and error for sure.

Man, that's not much more than what I spent on the E32 tabs. That's a no-brainer.

this is refrencing an e46 though. the bm134 has the 1.8in backing ant the bm 3109 is felt backed according to the thread more suitable for c pillars/ sunroof trim ring. i still wonder how this matches the color of the sun visors.

the only e36 refrenced material i found was this:

    i call BS

i did find the previous referenced adhesive in an aerosol can: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B092NJH6XL...25H3E57X6AJH4A

i do agree the 3m adhesive is crap i had bleed through issues im my use, and its apparently failed in spots in my " professional" job i had don some years back. they had those green cans everywhere in the shop.

so after some more research and pulling my existing headliner im quite positive i have the bm134 material installed by the shop i paid, i wont out them but the receipt says "bmw dark fabric" this material faded unbelievably and the backing material had completely failed. i certanly dont want to use the same material. and the color is not an exact e36 match, if it donstn match ill just go real black. 3rd phot shows backing material failing on relatively unfaded section on A piller

The A pillars were easy - somehow getting the C Pillars back there was harder than Thought. Will try again

I’m a fairly experienced/competent diy’er and reinstalling those c-pillar covers is easily the most difficult thing I’ve ever faced on any car I’ve ever owned.

bookmarking this for the future, I have to redo my headliner and replace the C pillar tabs.
