E60 535xi ran perfect when parked a few months ago but now doesn’t crank or start

Hey I have a 2008 535xi that used to be my daily until I got an e34 and went off to college. Now I’m home and the e60 hasn’t ran since last august. It doesn’t crank or start but I can hear the fuel pump engaging. I recharged the batter and filled it back up with oil because I had a very slow but consistent oil leak for the past few years. All electronics work fine, dashboard lights up. I do have a check engine light and a yellow symbol with the car on a lift.

Let me know what I could try to get it running without taking it to the shop. Thanks

Was this car parked outside for the past year? Have you checked the module tray under the spare tire for water?

Yes it has been parked outside. I just checked under the spare and everything is mint

Then all the modules back there did not get wet and cause problems. You need an advanced scan tool or will just be guessing and may be buying expensive parts that won’t fix the problem. There are some wireless phone app ones, some computer based ones and some free standing ones. People good with computers have put together the computer based ones pretty cheaply.
